Acrylic and oil paintings (on canvas, hardboard, or even on paper) can be framed in a variety of ways. Floater frames are a great option for gallery wrapped canvases so you can see the whole painting and its sides. For paintings on boards or ones that have been stretched with staples showing along the sides, regular cap mouldings are a better choice. A painting can be framed with a combination of two or more mouldings and fillets to give it that extra special look.
To protect your paintings from dirt and pollutants in the air, you can choose to include glass in the frame design so long as you have a spacer between the glass and painting.
